Evening of Events
at DRAF, Fitzrovia

13 October 2010
Roberts Institute of Art

An evening of events, happenings and performances with Patrizio Di Massimo, Cinema Zero, Amy Granat and Flora Wiegmann, and Laure Prouvost.

Roberts Institute of Art

The Negus said: Give me the lion, keep the stele is a performative reading of an eponymous text piece by Patrizio Di Massimo.

It analyses consequences and implications of the restitution of the Lion of Judah and the Obelisk of Axum; two artefacts that were stolen by the Italians during the second Italo-Ethiopian war and then returned to their original possessors in 1969 and 2005.

Initiated in 2004 with the help of artists Olivier Mosset and Steven Parrino, Cinema Zero is a concept of nomadic events mixing screenings with performance, painting, sculpture, dance or sound.

For More Pricks Than Kicks, Amy Granat will conceive a Cinema Zero evening for the first time in London, involving dance, sound and a choreography developed with Flora Wiegmann.

For More Pricks Than Kicks, Laure Prouvost presents From The Sky, a performance in which the narration seemingly falls short with no fixed conclusion.

Prouvost will tell us about an event that occurred a few weeks ago within a room slightly smaller than the one you are standing in. Remnants of the performance will become part of a new installation at the gallery.

This event is curated by Patrizio Di Massimo and DRAF.

Evening of Performances

Our Evening of Performances (2008–2019) was an annual highlight of our programme that brings together artists, musicians and choreographers for a presentation of new live work. Each year we commissioned performances that showcase the energy and diversity of performance art. The event was open and free to all.
